On June 6, Professor Xu Junzhe from School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of University at Buffalo, State University of New York was invited to visit Department of Psychiatry of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University for academic exchanges. Ma Xiancang, Vice President of the hospital and Chen Yunchun, Director of Department of Psychiatry jointly hosted the exchange activities. All medical staff from the Department, resident physicians and advanced training physicians attended the exchange activities.

Professor Xu Junzhe is a professor from Department of Psychiatry of University at Buffalo, State University of New York, a Chief Physician from Department of Psychiatry of Veterans Administration Hospital, outstanding Academician of the American Academy of Psychiatry, former Chairman of the Western New York Psychiatric Society, Standing Member of International Association of Chinese Medical Specialists & Psychologists and Vice Chairman of Psychiatric Association. Professor Xu is a visiting professor of Department of Psychiatry of our hospital.

Professor Xu Junzhe, an internationally renowned expert and scholar in the field of psychiatry, was invited to visit our hospital for academic exchanges. Such intimate contact with the internationally advanced levels can enable us to better recognize the gap, explore the appropriate direction and gain momentum for progress. At present, extensive efforts are being made to advance the discipline of psychiatry of our hospital into A-grade discipline. At this critical moment, the visiting and guidance by Professor Xu Junzhe can drive the disciplinary development. Professor Xu was delighted with the rapid development and achievements in recent years made by Department of Psychiatry of our hospital and in China. She expected to deepen exchanges and collaboration with our hospital, aiming to promote sound development in the field of psychiatry in China.

Professor Xu Junzhe and her graduate student Melissa delivered academic lectures entitled "Relationship between diet and Alzheimer's disease" and "Dermatology of physicians from Department of Psychiatry". From the perspective of interdisciplinary integration, she introduced the latest research results of her team in the field of psychiatry, and predicted the possible direction of future research in this field, which significantly enlightened the audience. The interdisciplinary integration of psychiatry with alternative disciplines opened the door to a new world, providing novel directions and insights for future investigations.
