On the afternoon of July 16, 2022, Professor Gan Boyi, Director of Radiation and Cancer Metabolism Program of MD Anderson Cancer Center in the U.S., was invited by the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) to deliver the 4th lecture of IN TALK: China-U.S. Dialogue-Special session for top-notched speakers.
Professor Wu Jiao from Department of Cell Biology of School of Basic Medical Sciences of Air Force Medical University, Professor Zhang Yilei from School of Basic Medical Sciences of XJTU, Zhang Guangjian, Director of Department of Human Resources of FAH, He Yingli, Deputy Director of Department of Infectious Diseases, Ding Chenguang, Director of Department of Donor Organ Procurement and Allocation, Tu Kangsheng, Deputy Director of Clinical Research Center, Ma Jinlu, Associate Researcher from Department of Radiation Oncology, and Yao Bowen, Assistant Researcher from Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery were invited as exchange guests. The activity was chaired by Ren Hui, Deputy Director of International Exchange Office.

First, Deputy Director Ren Hui introduced the background significance, speakers and guests of IN Talk serial activities, and expressed welcome and gratitude to the experts attending the event. She hoped that all experts can learn advanced scientific research experience through online connection, integrate what they have learned and broaden new horizons and new ideas of clinical research.
Subsequently, Professor Gan Boyi gave a lecture entitled Targeting ferroptosis in cancer therapy, mainly illustrating the concept of ferroptosis, pathological correlation of ferroptosis, defense mechanism of ferroptosis and potential treatment strategies.

After the lecture, all participants conducted in-depth discussion with Professor Gan Boyi from their respective research expertise and professional direction, and jointly discussed how to further study ferroptosis thoroughly.
This activity combined basic medicine with clinical medicine, and young backbone experts from basic medicine, thoracic surgery, infectious diseases, respiratory and critical care, hepatobiliary surgery and radiation oncology delivered academic exchanges with Professor Gan Boyi. There is no limit in academics, and there is no national border in communication. Under the situation of normalization of epidemic prevention and control, IN Talk aims to build academic exchange channels for clinical disciplines. In the future, bilateral sides are expected to continually carry out in-depth international exchanges and cooperation in talent training and scientific research.
