On the afternoon of July 29, 2022, Mo Zijing, Director of Infectious Diseases Labs (ID Labs) of Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), was invited by the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) to deliver the 6th lecture of IN TALK: China-Singapore Dialogue-Special session for Singapore.
At the invitation of FAH, Mo Zijing participated in the IN Talk serial activities. Professor Wang Hongliang in pathogenic biology from School of Basic Medical Sciences of XJTU, Xu Qingli, Director of Public Health Center of FAH, Professor Li Yan from Brain Science Research Center, and Liu Jinfeng, Deputy Director of Department of Infectious Diseases were invited as exchange guests. The activity was chaired by He Yingli, Director of Department of Infectious Diseases, and Ren Hui, Deputy Director of International Exchange Office.
Deputy Director Ren Hui introduced the background significance of the IN Talk serial activities and the development status of FAH. She highlighted that it was a great honor to invite her old friend, Director Mo Zijing, to share valuable experience in the operation and management of P3 laboratory. This exchange was in line with the theme of establishing International Exchange Center and Public Health Center, hoping that International Exchange Center can play an important role as a platform and serve discipline development. He Yingli gave a brief introduction to Director Mo Zijing and the guests attending the lecture, and expressed his welcome and gratitude.
Subsequently, Director Mo Zijing delivered a lecture entitled BSL3 Animal Model-Application of K18-hACE2-Transgenic Mice in Anti-SARS-CoV-2 Research, introducing the basic situation of ID Labs of A*STAR, the application of P3 animal model in the evaluation of COVID-19 virus drug and antibody, and outlining three key aspects in the construction of P3 laboratory.
After the sharing, the guests conducted in-depth discussion regarding virus level determination, P3 laboratory management and operation, etc.
Xu Qingli concluded that Director Mo Zijing has accumulated abundant experience in the operation of P3 laboratory, and highly appreciated Director Mo Zijing’s valuable sharing, hoping that FAH can deliver more learning and exchange in the process of establishing National Medical Center and strengthen the construction of Public Health Center.
