On March 25, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) held a welcome meeting for the 8th batch of medical team experts in Malawi. Vice President Ma Xiancang, three medical team members in Malawi, and heads of Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, Department of Hematology, Department of Rheumatology and Immunology and related administrative departments were invited to attend the meeting, which was presided over by Zhang Guangjian, Director of Department of Human Resources.

Li Xiaogang, Leader of the medical team and Deputy Director of Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, reported on the medical aid work in Malawi from the aspects of clinical diagnosis and treatment, medical services for diplomats and cultural construction, etc. Zhu Huachao from Department of Hematology, and Tian Juan from Department of Rheumatology and Immunology, introduced clinical diagnosis and treatment services in the recipient hospitals and the achievements in aiding Africa. During medical aid in Malawi, they inherited and carried forward the spirit of the medical team, overcame the severe test of COVID-19 pandemic and successfully completed the task of medical assistance, making due contributions to enhancing the friendship between the Chinese and Malawi peoples and building a community of shared future for Mankind. In subsequent work, they will continue to carry forward the spirit of confronting difficulties and daring to take responsibilities.

They not only affirmed the achievements of three team members, but also expected tocarry forward the spirit of medical team in upcoming work. They also hoped that three team members can bear the precious wealth of medical aid team in mind and make greater contributions to the development of respective departments and our hospital.

On behalf of hospital, Vice President Ma Xiancang warmly welcomed and highly appreciated medical team members who successfully completed the mission of medical aid in Malawi, and fully recognized the achievements of the medical team. He stressed that during the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, three team members directly confronted the dangerous situation and successfully completed the glorious mission of delivering medical aid in Malawi, which reflected the mission and responsibility of Chinese medical team and our hospital. They also assisted in establishing a local medical team in Malawi, and offered valuable anti-pandemic experience for Malawi people. Their spirit should be encouraged and learned by all staff throughout our hospital. He hoped that three team members can take a rest, promptly devote themselves to their work in our hospital with high spirit and full enthusiasm, and assist the construction of National Medical Center.
