On June 14, Professor Fan Wanhu from Department of Infectious Diseases and Professor Li Baozhen from Infection Control Office who were went to Tajikistan for fight against COVID-19 pandemic returned home after their 14-day quarantine and negative results of nucleic acid test were confirmed. Both Professors previously participated in the earthquake relief in Wenchuan as the medical team members of the first affiliated hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU). Twelve years later, they joined hands again and shouldered the heavy burden to fight against the COVID-19 crisis in Tajikistan as members of Shaanxi Province Joint Expert Group, aiming to pass on the anti-pandemic wisdom and strategies of our hospital to Tajikistan.
Zhang Jianping, Deputy Inspector of Health Commission of Shaanxi Province, Yu Fuchun, Director of Medical Administration Bureau, Liu Na, Deputy Director of Medical Administration Bureau, Feng Guanglin, Deputy Secretary of our hospital and leaders of relevant administrative departments arrived at the isolation site to welcome two heroes.
At the welcoming ceremony held in our hospital, Professor Fan Wanhu briefly introduced their work status in Tajikistan with Professor Li Baozhen. “We participated in the anti-pandemic work on the frontline, passed on our experience, donated COVID-19 prevention materials and medicines to Tajikistan counterparts, formulated COVID-19 prevention and control proposals, and face-to-face shared hand-on experience in the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and protection and relevant facilities with medical staff from Tajikistan in the designated hospitals and quarantine sites”, Fan added. “We passed on the treatment experience of our hospital to Tajikistan counterparts. We do have the courage to bear the responsibility, adhere to our mission, overcome multiple difficulties and successfully accomplish the glorious mission to defeat COVID-19 with our friendly neighbor. We’ve contributed our strength to COVID-19 prevention worldwide, and returned home with honor. Thank you all for sincere caring and concern”.
Deputy Secretary Han Ju presented the souvenirs to two team members on behalf of the hospital. On behalf of all hospital staff, President Shi Bingyin congratulated and welcomed Professor Fan Wanhu and Professor Li Baozhen on their successful completion of the task.
During their stay in Tajikistan, two experts strictly adhered to the idea of building a community with a shared future for mankind, firmly remembered that medical aid to foreign countries is the extension of the "Belt and Road Initiative", and spread the anti-pandemic spirit and valuable experience of the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU to Tajikistan friends. Our hospital will further strengthen the development concept of "Comprehensive Health", seek greater benefits for the people's health, and make due contributions to a healthy China.
