On October 18 and 20, after half a year of concentrated training, the 34th batch of medical team of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (eight people in total) went to Sudan in two separated teams to fulfill a one-year foreign aid medical mission.
Based on the foreign aid arrangement of Shaanxi Health and Family Planning Commission, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University took the lead to establish the Medical Aiding Sudan Team with experts from 15 associate organizations. The following members from our hospital participated in the mission, including Guo Yong, Deputy Director of HR Department, Li Xiaojun, Deputy Director of Department 2 of Thoracic Surgery, Li Xiaoquan, Secretary of the Party Branch of Neonatology Department, Cai Yun, attending physician of Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Hou Haitao and Cui Yanchao, attending physicians of the Rehabilitation Medicine Department, Guo Chenguang, attending physician of Department of Radiology, Wang Wei,technologist-in-charge of the Office of State-owned Property Management.
Deputy Director Guo Yong, full-time leader of the Medical Aiding Sudan Team, expressed that they would bear the national mission in mind and made positive contributions to enhancing the friendship between Chinese and Sudanese people and promoting world peace. What’s more, team members said that they would stay true to their original aspiration and keep their mission firmly in mind, inherit and carry forward the spirit of the foreign aid medical team, successfully complete the glorious mission arranged by the state and the hospital, and make contributions to the friendship between Chinese and Sudanese people.
Since the first batch of foreign aid medical team dispatched to Sudan based on the unified arrangements of China in 1971, our hospital has so far sent a total of 29 batches of experts (113 in total) to Sudan.Each expert has given full play to his or her professional expertise, carried forward the spirit of “not being afraid of hardship, being willing to sacrifice, healing the wounded and rescuing the dying and loving boundlessly” of foreign aid medical team and the international humanitarian spirit, imparted advanced medical technology and ideas to local medical staff, made positive contributions to promoting the development of health service in Sudan, improving the health of local people and deepening the friendship between Chinese and African people, and demonstrated the good image of Chinese medical workers.
