On February 1, 2018, Donation and Handover Ceremony of Medical Devices and Drugs to Assist Malawi was held in Health Ministry of Malawi, and Wang Shiting, ambassador in Malawi, ATUPELEMULUZI, HealthMinister of Malawi, and Han Rongchao, associate inspector ofHealth and Family Planning Commission of Shaanxi Province attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Professor Liu Li from Neonatology Department and Professor Li Xuelan from Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of our hospital were invited to attend the meeting, and also they were interviewed kindly by Health Minister of Malawi.

To carry out the Sino-African public health cooperation plan, Chinese side has always been active to drive the cooperation in medical health field between China and Malawi, to help to develop the medical health of Malawi wholeheartedly by dispatching medical team, donating medical devices and drugs, providing opportunities for Malawi’s medical health personnel to go to China for study and short-term training. In recent 10 years, China has jointly dispatched 5 groups of medical teams, totaling 84 persons, to Malawi.

This time, the expert group ofHealth and Family Planning Commission of Shaanxi Province specially visited Malawi to promote women and children’s health program, and also brought a batch of medical devices and drugs urgently needed by Malawi, expecting to help to improve the local medical health conditions.

Minister Muluzi introduced the positive role of medical devices and drugs provided and donated by China, especially medical teams assisting Malawi, spoke highly of and expressed his thanks to Chinese government and people for our selfless help to Malawi in the field of people's livelihood, and expressed that China really brought welfare to Malawi’s people and promoted the local development.
