From September 27 to October 1, 2019, the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress 2019 was held in Barcelona, Spain. Wang Wenjuan, Assistant Research Fellow and Liu Mengjie, Doctoral Student from Department of Medical Oncology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) attended the congress for poster presentation.

This grand congress aims to build a bridge to promote the interaction between laboratories and outpatient clinics and enable researchers and clinicians to make joint efforts to provide better cancer patient care and precise orientation of medical research. Thousands of physicians, experts and scholars from all over the world attended the congress.

As the representatives of research team led by Professor Nan Kejun, Wang Wenjuan and Liu Mengjie from Department of Medical Oncology of our hospital delivered poster presentation for academic exchange, which investigated the mechanism underlying colon cancer metastasis, demonstrating that colon cancer cells with high expression of RBP-Jκ can enhance the effect of tumor-related macrophages upon promoting the metastasis of colon cancer cells by secreting CXCL11.
