From September 21 to 24, 2019 World Congress of Gastroenterology (WCOG) was held in Istanbul, Turkey. Chu Dake, Physician from Department of Gastroenterology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU）was invited by the Academic Committee of the congress to deliver a keynote speech related to the innovative development of the combination of medicine and engineering in the field of digestive endoscopy, which captivated intensive interest and widespread attention from professionals and experts from all over the world. Multiple international medical research institutions expressed their intention for further collaboration.

At the Annual Congress of European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) held in Barcelona, Spain from September 27 to October 1, the research outcomes from Chu Dake were selected for poster presentations, which illustrated the epidemiological evidence and molecular mechanism of hypoxia in the role of obesity in promoting the incidence of colorectal cancer from the aspects of basic research and clinical trial.

Frequent presentation of research outcomes at high-level international academic conferences has further strengthened the discipline influence of Department of Gastroenterology in our hospital.
