Recently, Liu Xuan, Attending Physician of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, was invited by the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) to attend the ARVO Imaging Program Conference for poster presentation held in Vancouver, Canada.

The poster presentations were arranged at three sessions during the conference. Besides attending the major conferences, Attending Physician Liu Xuan primarily received professional suggestions and opinions from other experts on his project, answered their questions and earnestly accepted their advice and guidance on his project during the poster presentation. Meantime, he also delivered academic exchanges with the ophthalmologists from other countries to discuss respective research outcomes.

This conference not only delivered a novel summary of the application of new imaging technology in clinical diagnosis, disease cognition and postoperative follow-up, but also introduced the novel application of artificial intelligence (AI), big data analysis and other emerging disciplines in ophthalmic imaging. These interdisciplinary fields have been mentioned in China, whereas large-scale research and clinical application remain in the exploratory stage, which deserves learning from international counterparts. Attending this conference elevated the academic recognition of Department of Ophthalmology of our hospital in the international community and provided novel ideas for subsequent research.

ARVO conference has been recognized as one of the top 50 conferences worldwide by the Health and Conference Association. ARVO also leads the world in the fields of visual research and ophthalmology covering academics, clinical study, research, teaching and the training of resident physicians,etc. ARVO includes 11,000 members from over 75 countries. It holds a high academic position in the world, especially in the treatment of vision system diseases and prevention of blindness.
