At the 54th International Liver Congress of European Association for the Study of the Liver (ILC/EASL), 6 abstracts from Mother-to-Child Transmission Prevention Team of Infection Department in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University were selected for oral presentations, setting the record for the most oral presentations on a single topic at international conferences among Chinese counterparts.

The oral presentations mainly focused upon the situation of mother-to-child transmission rate under different intervention measures, the difference in immunization doses of immunoglobulin, the impact of delivery mode on mother-to-child transmission, the timing of intervention during pregnancy, the timing of postpartum withdrawal, the safety issues of TDF use throughout the whole process and other problems concerned in clinical practice. The members in the research team and experts from other countries in-depth discussed the issues above. Dr. Deirdre Kelly and Dr. Miriam Levy, two prestigious liver disease experts, put forward valuable proposals and suggestions on the "Guidelines on Prevention and Treatment of Mother-to-Child Transmission of Chronic Hepatitis B Virus Infection in China" and looked forward to the final release of the guidelines.

The problem of mother-to-child transmission of HBV has captivated widespread attention, which is involved with intricate and complicated clinical problems. In the subsequent research, the research group will continue to carry out the work rigorously and practically, formulate the "Guidelines on Prevention and Treatment of Mother-to-Child Transmission of Chronic Hepatitis B Virus Infection in China" strictly according to the standards and requirements of evidence-based GRADE and RIGHT, systematically and effectively guide the clinical practice of prevention and treatment of mother-to-child transmission of HBV in China and contribute to realizing the goal by WHO of eliminating HBV by 2030.

Besides, Professor Chen Tianyan from the research team was awarded the second prize for Scientific and Technological Progress Award of Shaanxi Province, which echoes the remarkable achievements made by the entire research team after over 10-year efforts under the leadership of Director Zhao Yingren of Infection Department.
