The 2019 European Association of Urology (EAU) Annual Congress (EAU2019) was held in Barcelona, a historic city in Spain, from March 15 to 19, 2019. Fan Jinhai, Deputy Director of Department of Urology Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, led the delegation of Associate Chief Physician Yang Lin, Associate Chief Physician Li Xiang, Associate Chief Physician Zhu Guodong and Attending Physician Zeng Jin attended the annual congress for oral presentations and poster demonstrations.
The annual congress of EAU is the largest and most influential urological conference and exhibition in Europe. Over 11,000 urologists and experts from more than 110 countries and regions attended the EAU2019 in Barcelona. Department of Urology Surgery showcased their exploration and achievements in scientific research and clinical practice through oral presentations and abstract posters at the EAU2019 congress.
In the session of Expert-Guided Poster Tour, Zhu Guodong, Deputy Chief Physician of our hospital, demonstrated the experience and comparative analysis of laparoscopic and robot-assisted laparoscopic treatment of vesicovaginal fistula. Combined with the clinical trial results of the department, he proposed that the robot-assisted laparoscopic technology possessed certain advantages in terms of length of hospital stay and removal time of pelvic drainage tube, which was highly recognized and supported by the participants.
On behalf of the research group led by Li lei, Attending Physician Zeng Jin illustrated the relationship between PrLZ and the autophagy mediated by molecular partners. Relevant research results have been published in academic journals with high impact factors, such asTheranostics,Carcinogenesis,Cancer ResandMolCarcinog, which demonstrates the progress and advanced level in the basic research in the field of urology of our hospital.
Deputy Chief Physician Li Xiang introduced the 30-year experience of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy of the department, re-evaluated the value of extracorporeal shock wave in the era of endoscope, and showcased the preliminary achievements in the treatment of urinary stone.
"A new method for evaluating erectile hardness-shear wave ultrasonic elastography" and the clinical trial of low-energy ultrasonic therapy for erectile dysfunction jointly accomplished by Deputy Chief Physician Yang Lin and Ruan Litao of Director of B-ultrasound Room were recognized by the experts attending EAU2019.
