On the afternoon of October 16, Prof. Anne Denise Thor and Liu Bolin, Directors of the Cytopathology Laboratory of School of Medicine under University of Colorado, came to the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University to give a special lecture entitled Research Progress on Novel Targets for Breast Cancer Treatment, attracting medical staff and graduate students of relevant departments of the hospital to attend. This lecture was hosted by Ren Hui, Deputy Director of the International Exchange Office.
At first, Prof. Thor gave a special report entitled the Metabolic Drivers of Breast Cancer Provide Novel Targets for Intervention, which mainly described the potential value of metformin in the treatment of breast cancer. Subsequently, Prof. Liu gave a special report themed on ErbB3 as a Molecular Target for Cancer Treatment, which described his team’s research on finding new therapeutic targets for drugs treating breast cancer in ErbB3 related pathway.
After the lecture, the attendees of our hospital raised questions enthusiastically and discussed and communicated with two experts on novel targets for the breast cancer treatment, role of ErbB family in tumors and related research methods. The visiting experts hoped to establish more in-depth cooperation with our hospital in the research and treatment of breast cancer in the future, and continuously strengthen mutual visits and exchanges, and continue to expand cooperation areas.
