At the invitation of Director Chen Yunchun and Vice Director Chen Ce of psychiatry department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University and Professor Ma Xiancang, Professor Xiang Yutao of University of Macau came to the hospital and conducted academic exchange activities on May 13, 2018. Director Chen Yunchun was in charge of the activities and all the medical workers of the psychiatry department as well as postgraduates participated in the exchange.
Professor Xiang Yutao is a member of the Psychiatric Pathology Commission of World Psychiatric Association (WPA) and a member of the Urban Psychiatric Health Commission. Since the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Macau was founded in 2013, it has developed very quickly. It was listed among the top 1% of the global ESI ranking list of clinical medicine only four years after it was established. The team led by Professor Xiang Yutao has published 299 SCI papers in famous international periodicals such asLancet,Am J PsychiatryandWorld Psychiatryand won over ten international scientific research achievement prizes since 2007. Professor Xiang Yutao is the Chinese professor who has published the most articles in the domestic psychiatry field. The main direction of his researches is the clinical research of mental diseases. He is good at summarizing and integrating clinical data.
Director Chen Yunchun introduced the conditions, scientific research statuses and unique advantages of the psychiatry department. He invited Professor Xiang to come to the department and conduct face-to-face exchange with the department. He hoped to establish a close and cooperative relation with Professor Xiang in the future. He also hoped that Professor Xiang would help and guide the department in the clinical research field and help the department achieve some breakthrough and development in the scientific research field.
In the follow-up academic exchange activities, Professor Xiang Yutao held an academic forum themed “How the clinical medical workers should conduct clinical researches and prepare their SCI papers”. He described in details how clinical doctors should select their research topics when they conduct clinical researches, the specific research methods, the precautions during paper preparation, etc. Professor Xiang emphasized the importance of the scientific research accumulation and continuity by taking his own practice for example. He pointed out that we should combine clinical practice with scientific research well, find the scientific research thinking from the clinical practice and solve actual clinical problems by conducting scientific researches.
Professor Ma Xiancang hoped that both sides would conduct further and closer cooperation and establish a long-term cooperative relation in the following aspects: scientific research project submission for approval, article preparation, student cultivation, etc. The psychiatry department would continue to strengthen the “Going out and Incoming Invitation” strategy, help the discipline continue to develop rapidly and strive to achieve the “A Target” as soon as possible.
