On April 15, 2018, Stephanie S. Davis, Chairman of the American AORN (Association of Operative Registered Nurses), Melville Ruth, Chairman of the International Federation of Perioperative Nurses, and Zhou Qing, Head Nurse of Kaiser Permanente, visited the Anesthesia Surgery Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University. Zhang Linjuan, Deputy Director of the Anesthetic Surgery Department and Zheng Xuemei, Deputy Director of the Nursing Department attended the reception.

At the meeting, Deputy Director Zhang Linjuan introduced the hospital from three aspects: hospital overview, medical characteristics, and nursing characteristics of the operating room. Chairman Stephanie S. Davis asked questions about staff training, male nursing ratio, and the average age of nurses in the operating room. After a brief exchange, the structure, age, training, and social acceptance of nurses in operating room at home and abroad were discussed.

In the afternoon, Chairman Stephanie S. Davis, Chairman Melville Ruth and Head Nurse Zhou Qing visited the Anesthesia Surgery Department of the hospital. During the visit, Chairman Stephanie S. Davis introduced the situation of US drug administration, classification of surgical clothing, and the structure of the operation room. At the same time, the issues of quality management, emergency disinfection, and positioning of articles of the operating room were discussed.

Through this exchange activity, not only has it demonstrated to international peers the environmental facilities, personnel status, and nursing features of the Anesthesia Surgery Department of the hospital, but it further allowed ournursing work of operating roomto be in line with international standards, making it easy to formulate development plans suitable for its own characteristics. For the continuous innovation and development of the nursing work of the Anesthesia Surgery Department in the hospital, it left an indelible mark.
