On the morning of June 3, 2016, Professor Rayman from University of Surrey conducted academic exchanges with some teachers from the Endocrine Department, Clinical Research Center of our hospital and Health Science Center in Multi-Function Hall on 8/F of East Building 1.

Professor Rayman was invited by our hospital to launch a discussion on the research in selenium deficiency, autoimmune thyroiditis and other endocrine diseases. The seminar was presided over by Professor Hou Peng. At the seminar, teacher Sui Jing and He Yayi and Professor Wu Qian discussed on their ongoing projects with Professor Rayman. Professor Rayman shared his experience in the clinical research and gave sincere advices on projects of these teachers.

In the afternoon, Professor Rayman gave a wonderful lecture entitled “How to Publish High-quality Research Paper”, which briefly described the whole process of planning, implementing, composing and publishing clinical research papers and attracted many research enthusiasts. During the lecture, the audience raised their doubts and seeked for advice, such as how to determine the sample size, how to control the confounding factors, and how to choose the appropriate journal for submitting manuscripts.

Professor Rayman has extensive experience in clinical research, especially in the implementation of RCT, and has published numerous articles in journals of higher level such asLancetandJAMA.The visit of Professor Rayman was welcomed by many scientific researchers. Professor Rayman also expressed her willingness to cooperate with our hospital in clinical research and looked forward to further academic discussion in the future.
