The 2016 World Hypertension Congress was held on September 24-29 in Seoul, Korea. More than 3,500 clinicians and researchers from 92 countries attended the conference, which represented the highest level of hypertension field worldwide.
Mou Jianjun, Professor of Department of Cardiovascular Surgery attended the conference and gave a special report at the special invitation. The research paper of Chu Chao, his doctoral student, was elected the Best Clinical Research for report. After fierce competition with counterparts from America, Italy, Germany, Australia, Japan and Korea, it won the 3rd prize of the Best Clinical Research. He was the only Chinese physician getting this prize, wining important academic influence and reputation for our hospital.
The research and prevention of hypertension is an important academic direction established and developed for a long time during subject construction of Department of Cardiovascular Surgery in our hospital. The team of Professor Mou Jianjun, Vice President of cardiovascular hospital and Director of Cardiovascular Medicine Department, has worked on clinical and basic researches of hypertension for a long time. He has hosted 5 projects of Natural Science Foundation of China, and guided young physicians and postgraduates to win 3 projects of Natural Science Foundation of China. In addition, he also undertakes several "863" and "973" projects. With domestic advanced level in the research of salt sensitive hypertension, his research achievements and academic influence draw the attention of domestic and foreign counterparts with several exchanges in international academic conferences. As a Sanqin Scholar of Shaanxi, Professor Mou Jianjun now is Deputy Director of cardiovascular disease committee of China Preventive Medicine Association, member of hypertension group of Chinese Society of Cardiovascular Disease, Standing Director of the council of Chinese Hypertension League, standing member of Hypertension Committee of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, member of Cardiovascular Committee of Chinese Association of Pathophysiology, member of China branch of International Society for Heart Research (ISHR), Deputy Director of Shaanxi Cardiovascular Society, Chairman of Xi’an Cardiovascular Society and standing editorial board member of Chinese Journal of Hypertension.
