Wu Qifei, Associate Researcher of Department 1 of Thoracic Surgery in our hospital, was invited to attend the 14th OESO World Congress and made a speech.
In early September 2017, the 14th OESO World Congress was held in Geneva, Switzerland. Nearly one thousand experts and scholars from all over the world engaging in the treatment of esophageal diseases were invited to attend the congress. The OESO World Congress, one of the most prestigious congresses in the field of esophageal diseases, has attracted 14,000 members from 85 countries since the holding of the First OESO World Congress in 1984. It is famous for its emphasis on frontier knowledge and disciplinary intersection. As invited by the organizing committee, associate researcher of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University Wu Qifei went to attend the congress and made a speech. He reported the research results of the Department of Thoracic Surgery of our hospital in the aspect of esophagogastric anastomosis, and showed our progress in treatment of esophageal cancer to all other participants. In the meantime, he also learned the achievements in the field of treating esophageal diseases from advanced countries around the world.
In recent years, the Department 1 of Thoracic Surgery has been attaching great importance to talent cultivation and international and academic exchanges. Several young physicians in the department have completed the training and learning in foreign countries. With the subsidy for attending high-level international conferences provided by the school and hospital, young physicians of the department attended many high-end academic conferences, such as the World Congress of the International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus, Annual Conference of American Association for Thoracic Surgery, and the OESO World Congress, during which, they made speeches or participated in poster exchanges, fully showing the academic influence of Department of Thoracic Surgery of our hospital.
