Zhang Xufeng is Doctoral tutor. He is a joint doctoral student to Xi 'anJiaotong University and University of Pittsburgh (2006-2010). From August 2008 to February 2010, he completed the doctoral research project in University of Pittsburgh, a world-prestigious center for liver surgery and liver transplantation. From September 2016 to September 2017, he followed Professor Timothy Pawlik, a world-renowned expert in surgical treatment of hepatobiliary and pancreatic tumors and participated in the international multi-center study and health big data study on evaluation of clinical prognosis after hepatobiliary and pancreatic tumor surgery in the Ohio State University. He has accumulated abundant experience in diagnosis and treatment of common diseases of liver, gallbladder and pancreas. As one of core members of liver transplantation team of Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, he has completed more than 100 clinical cases of liver transplantation every year. He has performed over 300 cases of other types of hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeries. In 2013, he participated in the world’s first case of "magnet-assisted laparoscopic choledochojejunostomy". He participated in more than 40 cases of magnet-assisted choledochojejunostomy for the first time in China.

Zhang Xufeng has undertaken 2 National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, 3 provincial projects including key scientific and technological research project, innovation support project and natural science foundation project in Shaanxi province, 2 university-level projects including Basic Scientific Research Expenses of Central Universities and Youth Teacher Tracking Support Project,1 key project of clinical trials in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi' an Jiaotong University and 1 fund project in hospital.

He has published more than 40 articles as the first or corresponding author in SCI-indexed journals, especially in the top journals in the field of digestion, such as Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and world-renown journals in the field of surgery including British Journal of Surgery, Annals of Surgeries, Surgery, etc.

Zhang Xufeng was awarded 1 second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 first prize and 1 second prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of Shaanxi Province. "Youth Rising Star in Science and Technology" of Shaanxi province and the first prize of Excellent Academic Dissertation in Natural Sciences of Shaanxi Province.
