From July 28 to 30, 2022, the 6th "West China Blood Transfusion Forum in conjunction of Study Course of New Progress on Blood Transfusion Technology and Blood Transfusion-related Cell Therapy", hosted by Department of Blood Transfusion of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), were held both online and in-person in Xi'an. More than 90 participants, including directors of Department of Blood Transfusion of medical institutions, heads and business backbones of blood collection and supply institutions from 10 cities in Shaanxi province, attended the forum in-person and over 300 participants attended the meeting online.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Wang Baoyan, Director of Department of Blood Transfusion of our hospital. Li Hengxin, Director of Shaanxi Blood Quality Office and Shaanxi Blood Center, illustrated the development of blood collection and supply institutions in recent years from Shaanxi province and how to guarantee blood supply work during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the main venue, national experts gave video lectures regarding the new vision and safety of plasma transfusion, blood management of women with postpartum hemorrhage, and the research and management mechanism of blood transfusion in blood collection and supply institutions,etc.
Academic exchanges are divided into two sub-venues: medical institutions and blood collection and supply institutions. Blood transfusion experts and business backbones of each institution in Shaanxi province extended novel perspectives of blood transfusion. On the 2nd day, two competitions of medical institution youth forum and blood station construction forum were supplemented. Young participants in the field of blood transfusion showcased clinical cases, practical activities, PDCA management, quality control circle, cultural connotation construction of blood stations, innovation and development, business development, emergency support and application of blood transfusion technologies, etc. After the exchange activities, the awarding ceremony was carried out.
Finally, Director Wang Baoyan delivered a concluding speech. This academic exchange encourages and promotes young people to actively participate in the research of clinical blood transfusion, creates a novel pattern of blood transfusion in western China, lays a solid foundation for blood transfusion talent training in this region, and further enhances the level and influence of Department of Blood Transfusion in our hospital.
