To support the construction of National Medical Center, Department of Orthopedics held Orthopedics Innovation Forum after successfully hosting Multidisciplinary Innovation Forum on Bone Tumors. The forum was held online and in-person, mainly focusing on the direction of clinical research related to orthopedics.

Liu Chang, Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) delivered a speech. Zhang Yingze, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chairman of Chinese Society of Orthopedics of Chinese Medical Association, reviewed his relationship with the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU and recognized the content of this forum. Yin Zhanhai, Director of Department of Orthopedics of our hospital introduced the development path of the department, the achievements in medical treatment, teaching and research and the planning of discipline development in the future.
In the first session, Professor Chen Yongnan from Chang 'an University introduced his team's achievements in the fields of material modification, active bacteriostasis of materials, and their clinical application. Professor Meng Lingjie from School of Chemistry of XJTU elucidated the characteristics and application of nanoenzymes, the achievements in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and the future clinical application prospects,etc. Professor Zhang Bin from the First Affiliated University of Shenzhen University shared the application of atomic dispersed metal materials in biomedicine and his team’s achievements in this field. Professor Cheng Jun from Northwest Institute for Non-ferrous Metal Research shared his team's research on the phase transformation behavior and deformation mechanism of a new medical metastable β-Ti-B12 titanium alloy.

During the second session, Professor He Xijing, President of Xi 'an International Medical Center Hospital, specially proposed clinical problems and shared his team’s design, research & development and innovation process of 3D printing artificial titanium cage implantation and movable artificial vertebral body through minimally invasive port. Professor Wang Shenqiang from Zhejiang University explicitly illustrated the role of physiologically-responsive hydrogel in the repair of cartilage injury. Professor Yin Zhanhai intimately highlighted the practical issues in clinical practice and shared the basic and clinical progresses and achievements in rotator cuff injury.
In the third session, Professor He Jiankang from School of Mechanical Engineering of XJTU shared his team's achievements in 3D printing, and reviewed the development path, current research status and application prospect of 3D printing,etc. Professor Bian Weiguo, Professor Li Meng and Professor Liu Jiantao from Department of Orthopedics delivered academic exchange and discussion on the outcomes and problems in the clinical and basic research achievements, respectively.
Professor Yin Zhanhai made a concluding speech, hoping that physicians and nurses from Department of Orthopedics could take this forum as an opportunity to actively strengthen contact and cooperation with experts and scholars in relevant fields, further elevate the scientific research level of the department, and contribute to the construction of National Medical Center.
