On the afternoon of June 24, the academic exchange meeting of "National Medical Center Innovation Academic Month-Digestive Disease Summit Forum", hosted by the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), was successfully held. The meeting proceeded both online and in-person with the theme of "Exploring novel technologies and progresses in digestive diseases and related fields, Sharing skills and experience of application for scientific research projects, Seeking novel ideas for innovative engineering medicine research". The meeting was chaired by Professor He Shuixiang, Director of Department of Gastroenterology, and multiple professors from Department of Gastroenterology participated in the chairing and discussion.
Lyu Yi, President of the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU delivered a speech, introducing the application process of our hospital as one of the affiliations for National Medical Center, and highlighting the content and significance of the series of academic exchange activities of the first "National Medical Center Innovation Academic Month".
Academician Li Zhaoshen from Changhai Hospital of Naval Medical University and Professor Linghu Enqiang, Director of Department of Gastroenterology of General Hospital of PLA, gave themed lectures entitled "Comfortable Minimally Invasive and Intelligent Endoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Era as We Expected" and "Digestive Endoscopy Technology Enters a New Era of Ultra-minimally Invasive Surgery", respectively. Two speakers summarized the historical evolution of digestive endoscopy diagnosis and treatment and the development of minimally invasive technology, highlighted novel breakthrough of digestive endoscopy in recent years, and shared the latest international clinical trials. Professor Han Ying, Director of Department of Gastroenterology of Xijing Hospital of Air Force Medical University, delivered a lecture entitled "Interpretation of 2021 Guidelines for Primary Biliary Cholangitis", explicitly elucidated the diagnosis and treatment of primary biliary cholangitis and presented the latest clinical research progress. Li Xun, President of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, introduced current situation and existing issues in the diagnosis and treatment of biliary stricture by giving a lecture entitled "Frontiers and Hotspots of Endoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment of Biliary Stricture".
Professor Ma Fei, Vice President of School of Material Science and Engineering of XJTU, gave a lecture entitled "Development of Material Discipline: Preliminary Discussion on the Material Basis of Engineering Medicine with Several Typical Cases", illustrating the latest research progress in the field of engineering medicine. Professor Fei Qiang, Deputy Director of Department of Human Resources of XJTU, shared his experience on "Application for National Key Research and Development Plan" and explicitly illustrated the key steps and notes in the application process.
Professor Liu Enqi, Director of Laboratory Animal Center of XJTU, and Professor Huang Chen, Director of Biomedical Experimental Center of XJTU, gave lectures entitled "Management of Animal Experiment in Medical Research" and "Selection of Subjects and Ideas for National Natural Science Foundation of China", sharing the requirements of animal ethics in basic research, hot spots and notes in the application of National Natural Science Foundation of China. Doctoral student Zhao Yan from Department of Gastroenterology of our hospital gave a presentation entitled "Technology Leads to Innovation, Multidisciplinary Integration creates Breakthrough" and shared her experience in clinical research and project design.
