The online academic exchange meeting of "National Medical Center Innovative Academic Month—Surgical Critical Care Forum" held by the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) was successfully held on the morning of June 11, 2022. Experts and professors from Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, General Hospital of Eastern Theater Command and Xiangya School of Medicine of Central South University were invited to deliver academic lectures. The meeting was proceeded online.
Liu Qingguang, Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU, introduced the application process of our hospital as one of the first-batch counseling affiliations of National Medical Center.
During the first session, Professor Fang Xiangming from Zhejiang University gave a lecture entitled "Sepsis and macrophages", illustrated his team's research work on the mechanism of macrophage TREM2 in sepsis from the perspective of immune regulation, providing theoretical basis for the research and development of cell therapy for organ function protection. Subsequently, Professor Liu Qingquan from Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine elucidated "Key steps of traditional Chinese medicine treatment of sepsis", explained the key procedures of treatment of different pathological stages of sepsis and recommended traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, and introduced recent achievements by his team in traditional Chinese medicine treatment of sepsis.
The second session focused on the clinical topics of infection. Professor Li Weiqin from General Hospital of Eastern Theater Command contributed a lecture entitled "Research progress on prevention and treatment of severe pancreatitis necrotizing infection". Professor Liu Chang from Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery of our hospital delivered a lecture entitled "Infection source control and classification of abdominal infection", innovatively put forward the "8-area classification method" for abdominal infection, specifically explained the D area with the most complications, and introduced the basic and clinical research in D area of our hospital.
In the third session, Professor Wang Qiang from Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine of our hospital, Professor Wu Yi from School of Basic Medicine Sciences of XJTU and Professor Lyu Ben from Xiangya School of Medicine of Central South University delivered keynote speeches entitled "Early diagnosis and treatment of septic encephalopathy by targeting mitochondrial homeostasis", "Research progress on CRP in sepsis" and "Frontier research and translation of critical severe diseases", respectively.
Finally, professor Liu Chang gave a concluding speech, predicted the broad development prospect of surgical critical care from the perspectives of clinical to basic to clinical research and integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine, and expressed her heartfelt appreciation to all experts attending the forum.
