On April 21, Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) held promotion meeting for National Medical Center and Medical Discipline Construction. President Wang Shuguo, Vice President Bie Zhaohong, heads of Department of Human Resources, Scientific Research Institute and Discipline Construction Office, party and administrative leaders of XJTU Health Science Center, heads of administrative departments, affiliated hospitals and School of Physics of XJTU attended the meeting. Vice President Lyu Yi chaired the meeting.
At the meeting, Liu Chang, Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU, gave in-depth introduction of the construction of National Medical Center from background, progress, main problems and additional support from XJTU, etc. Guided by major needs of our country, our hospital focuses on 9 tasks of scientific and technological rewarding system and 7 platforms and centers, aiming to become a world-class research, teaching and medical hospital. At present, a national-provincial-university level coordination working mechanism has been established, and breakthroughs and progress have been made in medical superconducting heavy ion accelerator, domestic ECMO, high-end laser diagnosis and treatment equipment with independent intellectual property rights, and serial instruments and equipment for magnetic surgery. Subsequently, our hospital will set up work schedule, determine key indicators, core factors, work plan and time node, arrange responsibilities and ensure smooth work progress according to "National Medical Center Construction Standards (Comprehensive)". Han Suxia, Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology of XJTU Health Science Center, introduced the development status, existing problems and solutions of medical disciplines.
During the exchange and discussion session, heads of all affiliated hospitals put forward constructive suggestions from the perspectives of system and mechanism of National Medical Center construction, policy support, research tasks, team building and the construction of key clinical disciplines, etc. Heads of administrative departments of Health Science Center and relevant schools proposed specific suggestions covering faculty building, enrollment scale, joint training measures, infrastructure construction and integration of basic and clinical researches, etc.
Bie Zhaohong stressed that the development of National Medical Center should be coordinated with the overall development of medical disciplines. It is necessary to make full use of National Biosafety Evidence Foundation of Ministry of Justice, utilize and integrate the resources of XJTU to build the discipline of forensic medicine. We should seize the opportunity, make overall plans, and fully promote the construction of high-level public health colleges. We should spare no efforts to speed up the construction of full-time scientific research staff in affiliated hospitals and persistently improve their scientific research capability. We should also compile and summarize existing scientific and technological, and teaching achievements, further accelerate the translation of research achievements, bolster joint talent training by industry and university, and elevate the discipline construction and talent training levels.
Wang Shuguo stressed that XJTU Health Science Center should take the overall situation as a whole, regard national major strategic needs and problems as the guide, recruit talents, set up teams, formulate interdisciplinary talent training programs catering to the requirements of discipline development and major key project construction, strengthen engineering medicine inter-disciplinary research, and persistently promote coordinated development of basic and clinical research.
Lyu Yi highlighted that we should stand on a new starting point, seize new opportunities, seek novel development, and promote the development and construction of National Medical Center and medical disciplines in a comprehensive and systematical manner with greater enthusiasm, higher standards and more practical actions.
