From January 6 to 12, 2022, four rounds of Online Expert Assessment Meetings of Discipline Development Plan during the "14th Five-Year Plan" Period was held in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU). Xu Binghe, Zhao Yupei, Dong Jiahong, Ma Ding and over 50 Academicians from Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chairman and Vice Chairman of Chinese Medical Association and Chinese Medical Doctor Association gathered at the online meetings to provide solutions and scientific guidance for the development blueprints of 15 disciplines in our hospital during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.
In 2021, our hospital was selected as one of the first-batch "tutorship" affiliations in the construction of National Medical Center. Under the preconditions of ensuring proper implementation of medical treatment and rescue and safeguarding people's demand for medical treatment, our hospital focused on the construction of National Medical Center, firmly strengthened the discipline planning and development, accumulated valuable experience and designed the overall blueprint.
During the assessment meeting, heads of 15 departments including Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Department of Respiratory Medicine, Department of Infectious Diseases, Department of Endocrinology, Department of Oncology, Department of Psychiatry, Department of Rheumatology, Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, Department of Urology, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Department of Kidney Transplantation, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, Department of Medical Imaging and Department of Health Management delivered explicit reports on the current status of discipline development, identifying the limitations compared with the first-class counterparts, development goals and ideas, key tasks and specific measures,etc. Directors and deputy directors, party secretaries and discipline backbones of all medical technology departments attended the online meeting. Heads of Discipline Construction Office, Medical Department, Teaching Department, Department of Science and Technology and other relevant administrative departments attended the meeting in-person. The meeting was presided over by Vice President Wang Maode.
The data were explicit and complete, the objectives were set clear and the tasks were assigned in a scientific and reasonable manner. Besides approving the effect of discipline construction and recognizing the discipline development ideas of our hospital, experts also delivered diagnostic evaluations, and put forward constructive suggestions and guidance for discipline classification. We should seize opportunities, emphasize national and local development strategies, focus on academic frontiers, familiarize the basic conditions of our hospital, clarify the ideas and specify the tasks, aiming to make up for shortcomings and set up a high starting point, further make scientific plans and design the overall blueprint, and achieve the goals of characteristic and innovative development. In addition, we should also integrate the teaching characteristics of XJTU, give full play to the advantages of science and engineering disciplines, optimize the layout and orientation of disciplines, construct disciplines with distinctive advantages, foster the development of new disciplines, promote the integration of medicine and engineering, vigorously recruit and cultivate talents, strive to make groundbreaking achievements in key areas, and catch up with or even surpass the leaders. Experts also gave specific suggestions on discipline scale, scientific research, education and teaching and platform construction support,etc.
During the Online Expert Assessment Meeting of Discipline Development Plan during the "14th Five-Year Plan" Period, the present situation of discipline development was clarified and the development goals and measures were established, providing guiding significance for elevating the quality and efficiency of discipline construction. Vice President Wang Maode stressed that our hospital will seize the historical opportunity of establishing a national medical center, learn from the first-class counterparts, make up for shortcomings, highlight discipline advantages and showcase development characteristics, and solidly accelerate the work of discipline construction, aiming to provide concrete support for high-quality development of our hospital.
