From January 18 to 19, 2022, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) held the first phased briefing on crucial tasks of the National Medical Center. This online meeting was joined by Bie Zhaohong, Vice President of XJTU, Lyu Yi,Vice President of XJTU and President of our hospital; Huang Zhongde, Executive Vice President of Scientific Research School ofXJTU, Prof. He Langchong and Prof. Lyu Shemin of Department of Medicine; Wang Wen, Director of National Technology Transfer Center; Fang Min, Deputy Secretary General of the university foundation and Deputy Director of National Technology Transfer Center; Zhang Yuxin, R&D Director of Lepu Medical Technology Co., Ltd., and Zhao Yanping, R&D Deputy President of Beijing Tide Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and other experts. They made comments and guidance on 21 unveiled sub-subjects among unveiled projects created by the National Medical Center from the perspective of project direction and achievement transformation among others. The meeting was presided over by Liu Chang, Vice Dean of our hospital.

Before the commencement of review and briefing, Prof. He Dalin from Department of Urology Surgery reviewed the research process of the blue laser surgery system from its inspiration to a high-end medical device with the subject of Research and Development of Innovative Medical Devices-My Experience. Following this, 21 directors of the crucial task teams reported their project progress in terms of project progress, fund expenditure, phased achievement, future plan and problems to be coordinated among others in two days. Review experts raised many pertinent and accurate questions and made their suggestions on the reports.

Lyu Yi indicated that the phased briefing on crucial tasks of the National Medical Center would promote the project progress, optimize the fund arrangement of the hospital, make dynamic adjustments and put resources into more urgent, faster, and more ambitious projects. During the current unveiling and selection tasks, it is necessary to further give full play to university advantages in terms of medical and engineering integration and innovation, target the defects in tasks, broaden the channels and extensively attract more excellent projects into the establishment of the National Medical Center. Lyu Yi expressed that scientific research, discipline construction, platform construction and project construction had been under the steady process. This meeting aims to make clear the progress of each project, necessary project supports and cooperation with the enterprises.

Bie Zhaohong said that the hospital would take the opportunities to create the National Medical Center and drive the prosperity of medicine segment in the university. Each project will have a more centralized research target, a faster progress, more achievements and more significant driving effects. All of us from the First Affiliated Hospital should focus on national crucial and key technologies, “Last Push” technologies and “bottleneck” problems and make reforms and breakthroughs. We should in every effort drive great progress in the discipline, talent, medical level, medical device and medical and engineering integration as if we do so as our own duties and really showcase the leading roles of the National Medical Center.
