From November 26 to 27, 2021, the 7th Chang’an Thoracic Surgery Summit Forum in conjunction with the 9th Minimally Invasive Thoracoscopic Surgery Training Course, hosted by Shaanxi Anti-cancer Association, organized by Professional Committee of Lung Cancer and co-organized by the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), were successfully held. Prestigious experts in the field of thoracic surgery nationwide and thoracic surgery experts in Shaanxi province were invited to attend the forum, which was held online and offline.

On November 26, a total of 9 minimally invasive surgeries were broadcast live in three operating rooms simultaneously. The team led by Professor Fu Junke demonstrated 1 case of robot-assisted three-incision radical resection of esophageal cancer after neoadjuvant immunotherapy, 1 case of robot-assisted lobectomy, 1 case of single-port thoracoscopic lobectomy and 1 case of bilateral sympathectomy under non-tracheal intubation anesthesia.Team led by Professor Zhang Guangjian showcased 1 case of uniportal VATS LS1+2 segmentectomy and 1 case of uniportal VATS RS8+9 segmentectomy. Professor Zhang Yunfeng with his teammembers demonstrated two cases of single-port thoracoscopic lobectomy. The team led by Professor Chen Jian presented 1 case of single-port thoracoscopic lobectomy.

During the surgical demonstration, Professor Fu Junke proposed the advantages, disadvantages and indications of robot-assisted thoracic surgery, emphasized the importance of team cooperation, and paid attention to improving the adaptability and judgment of thoracic surgeons. Professor Zhang Guangjian shared the experience of segmental resection, highlighting that preoperative preparation and reasonable surgical plan are the foundations. Intraoperatively, the target bronchial segment, as the core of the entire surgery, should be accurately identified and anatomized. Thoracic surgeons should not only stress the nodular margin, but also emphasize the sampling of mediastinal lymph nodes.
On November 27, the 7th Chang’an Thoracic Surgery Summit Forum was officially launched. The forum covers a wide range of topics, such as the cutting-edge issues in the field of thoracic surgery, latest research progress upon lung transplantation in China, latest minimally invasive technologies of thoracic surgery at home and abroad, basic and clinical research progress on esophageal cancer, the skills of segmental resection, clinical experience of tracheal and carina resection, research progress on immunotherapy and early screening and follow-up standards of pulmonary nodules,etc. Invited domestic experts in the field of thoracic surgery delivered live academic lectures, respectively.

Finally, Professor Fu Junke gave a concluding remark. The 7th Chang 'an Thoracic Surgery Summit Forum successfully concluded with a total of 46,000 hits and a maximum of approximately 40,000 online viewers.
