On November 23, 2021,Trauma First Aid Nursing Skills Competition of Shaanxi Province jointly hosted by Education, Science, Culture and Sports Trade Union Committee of Shaanxi Province and Shaanxi Nursing Association was launched in Xi 'an International Medical Center. This competition was held online and offline. In total, 10 teams from different regions participated in this fierce final competition with 300,000 online viewers.
Nursing team consisting of Supervisor Nurse Min Huandi from Emergency Department, Nurse Qiang Caiping from Department of Infectious Diseases and Nurse Zhou Xinyun from ICU of Department of Neurosurgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) participated in the competition. After over 3-month training activities, the nursing team from our hospital stood out from 98 teams in Shaanxi province and entered the semi-finals, and eventually rushed into the finals of 10 teams. The competition started from the cases of traumatic brain injury and the actual changes of disease conditions in clinical practice, covering different first aid skills, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use of simple respirator, defibrillation, intravenous infusion and bandaging,etc., aiming to assess the management, cooperation, communication and coordination capability of the nursing team in dealing with emergent trauma from multiple dimensions. The nursing team from our hospital saved the patients’ lives through accurate evaluation, intimate observation, prompt treatment, comprehensive communication and close cooperation during the emergent rescue. Finally, our hospital received the second prize of the team competition andExcellent Organization Award. Qiang Caiping from Department of Infectious Diseases grabbedthe first prize of the individual competition, Min Huandi from Emergency Department won the second prize of the individual competition and Zhou Xinyun from ICU of Department of Neurosurgery received the excellent prize.
