From November 19 to 20, “National Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Service Training Course”, hosted by National Institute of Hospital Management of National Health Commission and co-organized by Department of Pharmacy of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Service (PIVAS) Center of Shaanxi Province, was held in Xi 'an. The training course was held online and offline. More than 40 pharmacists from Xi 'an participated in the training course in-person, and 35,700 professionals in PIVAS and pharmacy across China attended the training course online.
This training course was presided over by Feng Weiyi, Director of Department of Pharmacy. Director Yan Qing from National Institute of Hospital Management of National Health Commission, Inspector Huang Bin from Hospital Administration Bureau of Shaanxi Provincial Health Commission and Liu Qingguang, Vice President of our hospital were invited to attend the opening ceremony and deliver speeches, respectively.
The content of this training course focuses on "Quality Management Standards for Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Service" and the forthcoming "Guidelines for the Construction and Management of Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Service Center". Combined with the recent development status of PIVAS at home and abroad and research progress on internal management and application of novel technologies, the training course consists of four sessions: standardized management of PIVAS, quality control and management basics of PIVAS, admixture and management basics of hazardous drugs, and basics of parenteral nutrient solution admixture.
Prestigious domestic pharmacists were invited to deliver training lectures including Professor Wu Yongpei, Director Yan Qing and Professor Sun Lulu from National Institute of Hospital Management of National Health Commission, Professor Dong Zhanjun, Professor Bao Jian 'an, Professor Liu Wei, Professor Zhai Qing from Hebei province, Jiangsu province, Beijing and Shanghai, and Professor Wang Yafeng, Professor Li Maoxing, Professor Liu Xiaofeng and Professor Lian Jiangping from Qinghai province, Gansu province, Ningxia Hui autonomous region and Shaanxi province. Director Feng Weiyi, Deputy Director Dong Weihua, Head Nurse Zhang Yating, Deputy Head Nurse Zhang Xiaoxia, team leader Pang Chengsen and other experts from our hospital also delivered training courses and shared experience.
The training course integrates theory with practice, and combinesvideo demonstration with synchronized explanation, which specifically resolves the technical difficulties in practical drug admixture, deepens pharmacists' understanding of relevant laws, regulations and technical specifications of PIVAS, improves pharmacists' capability and consciousness regarding physicians’ prescription review, special drug admixture, quality control management and occupational protection,etc., aiming to comprehensively guarantee the drug use safety of patients.
