On October 15, 2021, "2021 Academic Forum on High-Quality Development and Safety Management of Nursing in conjunction with the finals of National Innovative Case Presentation for Peripheral Intravenous Infusion Therapy", hosted by Chinese Journal of Nursing, was held in Suzhou. A total of 97 contestants from 28 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities were shortlisted for the finals.

Shen Cunyi, nurse-in-charge from of Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, delivered a presentation entitled “Bariatric surgery combined with multidisciplinary coordination makes the establishment of vascular access easier—establishment of multidisciplinary vascular access regimen for obesity patients” and reported the treatment characteristics during each perioperative period of bariatric surgery and established a scientific vascular access regimen suitable for the characteristics of obese patients by establishing a multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment team. In the final competition, Shen Cunyi captivated widespread recognition from the judges by steady performance and exquisite PPT presentation, and finally grabbed the first prize in the peripheral vein group.

After regional and in-hospital screening, and preliminary competition of Shaanxi Nursing Association, Shen Cunyi, stood out from multiple contestants from 15 hospitals in Shaanxi province, and was elected as one of the three contestants representing Shaanxi province to participate in the national finals. Xin Xia, Director of Nursing Department, Li Jieqiong, Deputy Director of Nursing Department, Xin Aili, Associate Chief Nurse, Han Juan, head nurse of ICU, Yang Qinling, chief head nurse of Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, head nurse Sun Yali, head nurse Feng Aifang and other experts and teachers from bariatric surgery team provided attentive guidance and encouragement from the presentation ideas, contents and skills.
More than 500 cases of bariatric surgery have been successfully performed by Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, receiving unanimous approval from patients. Meantime, the nursing team also combined with the patient characteristics, kept innovation and explored the optimal clinical and nursing technologies, aiming to bring concrete benefits and enhance the degree of satisfaction of patients.
