On September 24, the comprehensive performance evaluation meeting of Key Project of "Digital Diagnosis and Treatment Equipment Research and Development" of National Key Research and Development Project entitled "Electromagnetic acousto-optic coupling non-invasive steep pulse electric field (sPEF) ablation system for early digestive tract cancer", led by Professor Lyu Yi, Assistant-to-President of XJTU and President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), was held in our hospital. The meeting was conducted both offline and online. The evaluation experts consisted of Academician Li Zhaoshen from Changhai Hospital affiliated to Naval Military Medical University, Professor Chen Siping from Shenzhen University, Professor Chai Ningli from PLA General Hospital, Professor Xu Guizhi from Hebei University of Technology, Research Fellow Wang Lei from Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Feng Qiushi from Peking University First Hospital, Professor Li Shengping from Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, Professor Li Bin from Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai JiaotongTongUniversity and Research Fellow Gao Xin from Suzhou Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Academician Li Zhaoshen served as the leader of expert group. Li Xiaohu, Deputy Director of Department of Special Project of Scientific Research Institute of XJTU, project leaders, sub-project leaders and project backbones attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Wu Shengli, Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology of our hospital.

At the meeting, Li Xiaohu pointed out the key significance of comprehensive performance evaluation to the completion of the project. Wu Shengli introduced the working standards of the comprehensive performance evaluation of National Key Research and Development Project.

Lyu Yi, the project leader, introduced the background, study design, fund allocation, technical route, process management and main achievements of this project.

Gong Wei from Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University, Liu Shunkun from Suzhou 3ctest Technology Co., Ltd., Ren Fenggang from XJTU, Gao Wei from Xi 'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Chen Xue from XJTU delivered in-depth introduction of the evaluation indexes, task completion, organization and management, and fund allocation of each sub-project, respectively.

After listening to their report, the expert group carefully reviewed the self-evaluation report of project performance and relevant materials. Through questioning and discussion, the expert group unanimously agreed that each sub-project has completed the research contents and evaluation indexes specified in the task book, which met the requirements of project approval. The expert group agreed that all 5 sub-projects have passed the comprehensive performance evaluation.

On behalf of the evaluation expert group, Li Zhaoshen proposed that all 5 sub-projects integrate both theoretical innovations and key technological breakthroughs, which are role models of the combination of medicine and engineering. The evaluation indexes of each sub-project have met the requirements of the task book. He emphasized that the early diagnosis and treatment of digestive tract cancer are encountering huge challenges, and the research and development of innovative diagnosis and treatment technology play a significant role in enhancing clinical efficacy of early digestive tract cancer. He also encouraged all project members to make comprehensive plans, actively explore the innovations and apply the research outcomes into clinical practice as early as possible.
