Xin Xia, Director of Nursing Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), is nominated on the recently-released list of Fellow of American Academy of Nursing (AAN).

Recently, AAN officially released the list of new fellows in 2021, including 21 nursing experts and scholars from Chinese mainland, 1 from Hong Kong and 7 from Taiwan province. Being nominated as Fellow of AAN is considered as one of the highest honors in the nursing field of U.S. and one of the most prestigious honors worldwide. The nomination of new AAN fellows launches in October every year. Candidates must be recommended by two current fellows of AAN, and Fellow Nomination Committee will review the evidence of their remarkable contribution to the development of nursing and human health. The list of newly-nominated fellows and international fellows of the previous year will be released approximately in June of next year. Since the foundation of AAN in 1973, it aims to attract global talents to guide the progress of nursing discipline, participate in the formulation and implementation of health security policies, and utilize nursing knowledge to promote human health. At present, more than 2,700 fellows of AAN have been nominated around the world, who serve as hospital administrators, clinical experts and scientific researchers with outstanding achievements in the fields of nursing education, management, practice, research and policy,etc.
As the leader of nursing discipline in our hospital, Director Xin Xia is nominated as AAN Fellow, which is another critical step forward to enhance the influence of nursing discipline in our hospital and contributes to the establishment of a national medical center.
