Qi Lei from Department of Neurosurgery receives the first prize in the 1st National Teaching Innovation Contest for College Teachers

Under the guidance of Department of Higher Education of Ministry of Education, the 1st National Teaching Innovation Contest for College Teachers, hosted by China Association of Higher Education, was successfully held in Fudan University from July 27 to 30. Qi Lei, a teacher from Department of Neurosurgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) grabbed the first prize with excellent performance among 198 teachers attending the national competition.

This contest is one of the events approved by Ministry of Education and included in the List of Reserved Items of 3-item Evaluation and 1-Contest of Affiliations Directly under Ministry of Education. It is the only teaching contest for college teachers in the list. Since the official launch on September 30, 2020, the national contest with the theme of "Promoting Teaching Innovation and Creating First-class Courses", jointly organized by Fudan University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Nanjing University, Zhejiang University, University of Electronic Science and Technology, XJTU, Quality Education Research Branch of China Association of Higher Education and Beijing Shiji Chaoxing Information Technology Development Co., Ltd., began to roll out from college contest, provincial contest and national contest. In total, 50,386 teachers from 31 contest sites nationwide participated in the college contests and 12,625 teachers advanced into the provincial contests. All affiliations in the national contest were divided into two pools: colleges directly under Ministry of Education and colleges under local authorities and 6 groups. A total of 300 teachers presenting with 198 courses covering 13 disciplines participated in the national contest. Finally, 30 of them grabbed the first prizes.

In the intermediate level and below group contest on July 28, Qi Lei delivered a report on the achievements of innovative teaching of "surgery" oriented by post competence, which delivered systematic and in-depth illustration from academic situation analysis, innovative ideas and concepts, teaching objectives, teaching content system, teaching pattern and method to evaluation and feedback.

This contest is not only a "lecture hall" where different teaching ideas and concepts converge, but also a "training court" for teaching innovation. All teachers compete with each other by contributinginnovative courses, which plays a leading role in innovating teaching concepts and enhancing teaching quality.
