From July 20 to 22, 2021 Standardized Training Conference for Resident Physicians from Department of Ultrasound Medicine, hosted by Chinese Medical Doctor Association, was held in Taiyuan, Shanxi province. As the chief affiliation of Ultrasound Physician Branch of Shaanxi Medical Doctor Association, Department of Ultrasound Medicine of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) recommended Cui Wenqi, a resident physician from Department of Ultrasound Medicine and other members to establish the Northwest China team. The team grabbed the first prize with high scores in the national case diagnostic capability training competition.

During this competition, resident physicians from nearly 30 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across China established 7 representative teams including Northeast China, Northwest China, North China, Central China, East China, South China, and Southwest China teams. The competition consisted of case diagnostic capability competition and ultrasound plane operation skill competition. In the case diagnostic capability competition, Cui Wenqi finally won the first prize with a leading high score of 260 points in both the individual and team competitions.

The standardized training base of Department of Ultrasound Medicine has always attached importance to theoretical knowledge teaching and practical capability training of resident physicians. The department has established a complete theoretical knowledge learning system consisting of department education, systematic theoretical lectures, follow-up and discussion of complicated cases and self-study report, and set up a skill training system comprising observation learning, hand-on practice and teaching, bedside teaching and independent practice, which enables the trainees to obtain abundant theoretical knowledge and master practical skills.

Department of Ultrasound Medicine has actively organized outstanding resident physicians to participate in the competition for four consecutive years. Thanks to explicit guidance and training in daily work and full preparation before the competition, the team represented by resident physicians from the department has obtained outstanding achievements in national competitions for multiple times. Last year, Resident Physician Fu Qiang from standardized training base of Department of Ultrasound Medicine won the first prize in the national competition for cardiac and vascular ultrasound operation skills on behalf of Shaanxi province team. This year, Resident Physician Cui Wenqi grabbed the first prize in both individual and team competitions, showcasing the strength of ultrasound medicine in Shaanxi province and the advanced training level of standardized training base of Department of Ultrasound Medicine in our hospital.
