To further strengthen the capability of tumor-targeted photodynamic therapy, promote the development of laser medicine and help the application for national medical center, Gu Ying from Chinese PLA General Hospital (301 Hospital) and Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences was invited to give an academic lecture entitled "Application of Tumor-targeted Photodynamic Therapy in Clinical Practice" in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) on the afternoon of June 14. More than 60 staff including President Lyu Yi, experts, professors and student representatives from relevant departments attended the academic lecture, which was presided over by President Lyu Yi.

Academician Gu Ying introduced the concepts and methods of photodynamic fluorescence diagnosis and photodynamic therapy, as well as the selection and usage of photosensitizers and laser equipment. Regarding clinical application, Academician Gu Ying delivered a detailed illustration on the selection of indications, laser safety operation standards, and the development and prospect of tumor-targeted photodynamic therapy throughout China, bringing an academic feast for the scholars. After the lecture, the session of case discussion was also carried out.

Academician Gu Ying is a prestigious expert in the field of laser medicine in China, a professor and doctoral tutor of laser medicine in Medical School of Chinese PLA, and Director of Department of Laser Medicine in Chinese PLA General Hospital. She has made significant achievements in the field of laser medicine and applied photodynamic therapy for benign diseases for the first time around the globe.
