Editorial Committee meeting of planning textbook entitled Basic Science and Clinical Practice of Digestive System Diseases is successfully held

To deeply adhere to the spirit of National Health Conference, fully implement the "Suggestions on Strengthening the Collaborative Implementation of Education and Training Plan 2.0 for Excellent Physicians" issued by Ministry of Education, National Health Commission and National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and further improve the training system of clinical practitioners with patient-centered, clinical practice-oriented and lifelong learning, under the active promotion of Professor He Shuixiang,Famous Teachers in Shaanxi Provinceand Director of Department of Gastroenterology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), it was decided to jointly compile the planning textbook entitled “Basic Science and Clinical Practice of Digestive System Diseases” after repeated investigation and verification by relevant experts from Medical Education Alliance in West China, and the examination and approval of People's Medical Publishing House.

On March 21, 2021, the Editorial Committee meeting of a national planning textbook for clinical medicine in colleges and universities entitled "Basic Science and Clinical Practice of Digestive System Diseases" was held in Xi 'an, which was jointly sponsored by Medical Education Alliance in West China and People's Medical Publishing House and organized by Department of Gastroenterology of the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU. More than 30 academic leaders from western provinces and prestigious experts from central and eastern regions were invited to attend the meeting.

The meeting was presided over by Professor He Shuixiang, Editor-in-Chief of the textbook. Yan Hong, the founder of Medical Education Alliance in West China and Vice President of XJTU, introduced the teaching characteristics of XJTU Health Science Center, fully highlighting the significance of this textbook as the first planning textbook since the establishment of Medical Education Alliance in West China. Liu Shui, Editor-in-Chief of People's Medical Publishing House, delivered special guidance on the background, orientation, drafting standards and requirements of this textbook, stressing that this textbook fits the current status and requirements of clinical practice of various textbook systems, especially suitable for 8-year medical students who have received traditional medical education and further studied gastroenterology, 5-year medical students, standard training students, resident physicians and attending physicians. This textbook centers on major diseases of digestive system and integrates basic science, imaging characteristics and medical humanities, which is primarily based on diseases, clinical practice and digestive medicine. It has high clinical practicability and broad market prospect. Hou Ren, Chairman of Society of Digestive Endoscopy of Chinese Medical Association, Professor Jin Zhendong from Changhai Hospital, and Professor Duan Zhongbi, chief reviewer of this textbook and former director of Department of Gastroenterology of our hospital, delivered speeches as the representative experts from the eastern and western regions, respectively. During the meeting, all experts discussed and revised the drafting outline, requirements, task assignment and drafting progress of this textbook, and successfully completed the target tasks of the editorial committee meeting.

The success of this Editorial Committee meeting signifies the formal beginning of the drafting of planning textbook entitled “Basic Science and Clinical Practice of Digestive System Diseases, and also indicates that Medical Education Alliance in West China has taken a critical step forward.
