On December 19, the "2ndChang'an Clinical Medical Education Summit in conjunction with 2020 National First-class Undergraduate Course (Medicine) Construction and Application Symposium" was successfully held in Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU). The summit proceeded viaTencent Meeting, establishing interaction among domestic education experts, on-spot audiences and experts. The whole summit was also live broadcast viaRain Classroom. Over 1,000 audiences attended the summit online. The summit was co-hosted by the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU and organized byXuetangX.
Gao Xiang, Deputy Director of Liaision Department of Research Center for Online Education of Ministry of Education and Deputy Secretary-General of Society of Integration of Industry and Education of China Association of Higher Education, Professor Wu Jing from Department of Endocrinology of Xiangya School of Medicine of Central South University and Secretary-General of Working Committee of Medical Disciplines of Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Innovation Alliance under the guidance of Ministry of Education, Gao Xingya, a professor of physiology from Nanjing Medical University, Associate Professor Cheng Xiangpu from Beijing You 'an Hospital of Capital Medical University and Associate Professor Sun Yumei from Teaching and Research Section of Medicine and Surgery of Peking University School of Nursing were invited to attend the online summit. The opening ceremony was presided over by Liu Chang, Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU.
Deputy Director Zhang Junbin fully recognized the outstanding contribution made by Clinical Medicine Discipline in applying National First-class Undergraduate Course in 2019. Secretary Chen Teng elaborated the background of "National First-class Undergraduate Course Construction" and emphasized the core tasks of current medical education construction under the national education layout. Secretary Pu Wei illustrated the guiding ideology of National First-class Undergraduate Course Construction and highlighted the important connotation of the ideological and political construction and the guiding significance of the construction of first-class course for the development of education.
The first half session of the summit was presided over by Deputy Secretary Yu Yuanwang and Vice President He Xinying. Secretary-General Gao Xiang delivered a presentation entitled "Construction and verification of online and online plus offline first-class course", mainly introducing the working ideas of online education and teaching during the prevention and control of COVID-19 pandemic, sharing typical cases of online and online plus offline first-class course construction and interpreting the precautions related to the course application. Vice President Yan Jianqun gave a speech entitled "Construction and practice of first-class offline course of physiology", primarily emphasizing “What makes physiology approved as a National First-class Offline Course–how to construct physiology as a first-class course?" and "How to continually construct physiology in practice?". Associate Professor Cheng Xiangpu, Professor Gao Xingya and Associate Professor Sun Yumei delivered themed reports, respectively.
The second half session was presided over by Professor Sun Xuejun and Professor Cheng Yanbin. Professor Wu Jing gave a report entitled "Construction and practice of online open courses", covering the definition of online open courses, national policies and current situation, the requirements of Ministry of Education for the construction of online open courses and how to carry out the construction and practice of online open courses. Vice President Liu Chang delivered a presentation entitled "Planning and implementation of first-class medical humanity courses". She shared practical experience from three perspectives including background and planning of course construction, planning and implementation, and key points and precautions during course application. Attending Physician Ren Hui and Associate Professor Yang Xudong made themed reports, respectively.
During this summit, leaders of representative outstanding courses approved as National First-class Undergraduate Course (Medicine) were invited to explore viable and effective paths for the innovative development of medical undergraduate education, construction and practice of high-quality medical courses as well ascultivation and improvement of outstanding medical talents.
