From November 17 to 20, the finals of the 6th China International College Students’ "Internet +" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was held in South China University of Technology. A total of 1.47 million projects and 6.31 million participants from 4,186 colleges and universities from 117 countries and regions at home and abroad signed up for the competition. The team of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) grabbed 4 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals on the Higher Education Main-track (Mainland project) and the "Young Dream Builder" Track, respectively. The total number of gold medals obtained by XJTU ranked the 3rd among colleges and universities in China and the 1st among C9 universities. The project entitled "Magnet Navigation Leads the Revolution of Airway Management Mode-Airway Management Robot" hosted by Surgical Dreamworks team of the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU received the silver medal on the Higher Education Main-track.

Under the guidance of Professor Lyu Yi from Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, Professor Zhao Ge from Department of Anesthesiology, Attending Physician Guan Zheng and Associate Research Fellow Geng Tao from School of Mechanical Science and Engineering, the project was led by Wang Rongfeng, a doctoral student of our hospital. The team members consisted of Feng Zhe, Wang Yue, Wu Xiaoning, Ma Tao and Lu Qiang, doctoral students from Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, Chang Pengkang, Zhang Wei and Liu Wuming, postgraduate students from Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, Dr. Ren Fenggang from Surgical Dreamworks, Dr. Zhu Haoyang from Department of Anesthesiology, Dr. Liu Wenyan from Department of Blood Purification, Yu Jiawei and Zhou Shaowen, undergraduate students from XJTU Health Science Center and Nie Yujie, undergraduate student from School of Economics and Finance of XJTU.

The project entitled "Magnet Navigation Leads the Revolution of Airway Management Mode-Airway Management Robot" is another worldwide pioneering achievement of Surgical Dreamworks. After the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, Surgical Dreamworks innovatively integrated magnet navigation technology with endotracheal intubation technology, deepened the application of artificial intelligence in magnet positioning tracking system and intelligent sputum resistance judgment algorithm, and developed a magnet-navigated endotracheal intubation robot. After the successful application in repeated animal experiments, simulated human experiments and organ donation experiments, Surgical Dreamworks team cooperated the team lead by Wang Qiang, Director of Department of Anesthesiology of our hospital to complete the magnet-navigated endotracheal intubation in a patient.

Magnet-navigated endotracheal intubation revolutionizes the conventional mode of laryngoscopic endotracheal intubation, which avoids incising the airway open and averts the splashing of airway secretion. Especially, it is simple to operate and convenient to grasp, which can be applied in the public. This method can be applied in the emergent resuscitation and treatment of severe infectious diseases involved with the respiratory system, which can improve the resuscitation efficiency, minimize direct contact between medical staff and the respiratory tract of patients, lower the risk of infection and reduce the workload of anesthesiologists.

This project has grabbed the first prize of Medical Equipment Transformation Seminar of China Medical Equipment Conference in conjunction with the 5th National Clinical Innovation and Invention Competition, and the second prize of the 8th Young and Middle-aged Scholar Academic Conference of Society of Medical Engineering of Chinese Medical Association in conjunction with the 2nd CCI Cup Tuoren Medical Device Science and Technology Innovation Competition.
