The "First National Summit Forum on Diagnosis and Treatment of Varices of the Entire Gastrointestinal Tract in conjunction with 2020 Annual Congress of Professional Committee of Tumor Endoscopy of Shaanxi Anti-cancer Association", hosted by Shaanxi Anti-cancer Association, co-hosted by Varicose Study Group of Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of Chinese Medical Association and Internal Hemorrhoids Coordination Group, and organized by Department of Gastroenterology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), was held in Xi 'an from October 30 to November 1, 2020.

This congress was proceeded online and offline. At the 3-day meeting, Professor He Shuixiang, Chairman of Professional Committee of Tumor Endoscopy of Shaanxi Anti-cancer Association, Director of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Branch of Shaanxi Medical Association and Director of Department of Gastroenterology of our hospital, presided over the opening ceremony. Ma Xinge, Secretary of Party Committee of our hospital, delivered a speech. On behalf of Shaanxi Anti-cancer Association, Professor Song Zhangjun, Chairman of Shaanxi Anti-cancer Association and President of Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital, delivered a remark. In the opening remarks, Professor Linghu Enqiang, Chairman of Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of Chinese Medical Association and Director of Department of Gastroenterology of Chinese PLA General Hospital, and other experts fully approved the disciplinary advantages of Department of Gastroenterology of our hospital in the inheritance and development of endoscopic minimally invasive and endovascular interventional treatment of portal hypertension varicose and the expertise in the endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal tumors, especially the progress on magnet-squeezing digestive endoscopic technology, which plays a leading role in China. They also proposed sincere expectations for the development of Department of Gastroenterology and extended heartfelt congratulations on the success of the congress. Approximately 200 digestive endoscopy experts and chairmen of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Association from western provinces were invited to participate in the on-site activities. Meantime, nearly 10,000 colleagues also attended the online congress for academic exchange.

The congress consisted of Summit Forum on Diagnosis and Treatment of Varices of the Entire Gastrointestinal Tract, Youth Forum on Standardized Diagnosis and Treatment of Early-stage Gastrointestinal Cancer, Clinicopathological Workshop on Standardized of Diagnosis and Treatment of Early-stage Gastrointestinal Cancer and Surgical Demonstration of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy,etc., providing 40 academic presentations and nearly 30 surgical presentations covering a wide array of topics, such as early diagnosis and treatment of early-stage gastrointestinal cancer, diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal varices and latest research progress on diagnosis and treatment of digestive system diseases,etc. All these events fully showcased the combination of theory and practice, latest progress and novel technology, experienced and novel experts as well as offline and online patterns. The 2-day academic lectures were so intriguing that proceeded until 6: 00 p.m. Led by Professor He Shuixiang and Professor Xu Junwang, Associate Professor Zhang Juan, Associate Professor Ren Mudan, Dr. Lu Guifang and Attending Physician Li Peijie delivered presentations or live surgical demonstrations as representatives of our hospital. Their professional performance received enthusiastic response and showcased the capability of young physicians from Department of Gastroenterology of our hospital. Experts widely expressed that the congress is a huge success with abundant content and tremendous benefit, which captivates widespread approval from the colleagues in the field of gastroenterology.
