On October 20, the awarding ceremony of the 6th Moral Role Models of Shaanxi Provincewas jointly held by Publicity Department of Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee, Civilization Office of Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee, Shaanxi Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, Communist Youth League of Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee and Shaanxi Women's Federation. Shi Bingyin, President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), received the honorary title ofMoral Role Models with Dedication and Devotion.
At the beginning of this year, when all the Chinese people were making concerted efforts to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, President Shi Bingyin took the lead in setting an example and devoted himself to the prevention and control of COVID-19 on the front-line in Wuhan. He immediately established an online platform to provide fever clinic and online consultation service for free, serving more than 5,000 patients in fever clinic and over 50,000 patients admitted to the online hospital. A total of 15 COVID-19 patients were treated in our hospital, including the oldest patient (89-year-old) and the most severe patient in Shaanxi province. Besides, 93 suspected patients were quarantined for medical observation in our hospital. The hospital has made due contributions to the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in Shaanxi province. Appointed by National Health Commission, President Shi Bingyin led the national medical team to deliver medical aid in Wuhan for two months, take over two wards in the East District of Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University, deliver clinical treatment and save the lives of 122 critically ill patients. He also organized medical experts to offer assistance in fighting against COVID-19 for foreign countries, shared valuable experience in COVID-19 prevention and control of, rescue and treatment of COVID-19 patients, psychological intervention and hospital management, and delivered online video connection with foreign counterparts from nearly 30 countries. For many years, he has consistently put the patients’ health as the top priority, pioneered the implementation of the major projects of prevention and control of chronic diseases in Northwest China, and made painstaking efforts to explore the development of human hyperthyroidism vaccine. Adhering to his motto of "Doctors should be benevolent in both profession and heart", he is simply interpreting his beliefs with his deeds.
