Department of Cardiovascular Surgery receives the First Prize of the 1st Minimally Invasive Valve Surgery Competitionfor Chinese Young Physicians

On October 27, 2020, the results of the 1st Minimally Invasive Valve Surgery Competition for Chinese Young Physicians held during Chinese Minimally Invasive Cardiovascular Surgery Congress were released. Li Yongxin, Deputy Chief Physician of Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) grabbed the First Prize, and Attending Physician Li Jing received the Excellence Award, which fully showcased the capability and charisma of young surgeons in our hospital.

Minimally Invasive Valve Surgery Competition for Chinese Young Physicians is initiated by Professional Committee of Minimally Invasive Cardiovascular Surgery of National Society of Vascular Surgery, aiming to promote and popularize the standardized operation of minimally invasive valve surgery in the field of cardiovascular surgery, build an exchange platform of cardiovascular surgery for young physicians and improve the minimally invasive surgical expertise of young cardiologists in China. In adherence to the principles of openness, impartiality and fairness, 22 excellent contestants stood out and entered the finals after multiple rounds of competition. The performance of each contestant was evaluated and scored by on-site review and online voting casted by dozens of minimally invasive cardiac surgery experts throughout China. After fierce competition, Li Yongxin received widespread recognition from the on-site experts and audience and grabbed the First Prize of the competition for his advanced surgical concept and surgical expertise in minimally invasive multi-valve surgery via the right intercostal approach. Attending Physician Li Jing received the Excellence Award for explicit anatomical layers and fluent presentation of minimally invasive aortic valve replacement via the right intercostal route.
