Our hospital and Australia China General Practice Alliance exchange experience in prevention and treatment of COVID-19 via multi-site video conference

On the afternoon of April 3, the expert team sent to Wuhan led by President Shi Bingyin from the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) in Mei County, the expert team pioneered by Assistant-to-President She Junjun from our hospital in Xi’an, and Chairman Zhao Huiyun, Vice Chairman Liu Shaojun, Financial Secretary Wang Fang, Standing Committee Members Zhang Yong and Gu Zhenhai along with more than 20 physicians from Australia China General Practice Alliance in Australia held multi-site video conference to exchange experience in the prevention and control of COVID-19. This is another remote medical exchange following a series of video conferencing with medical experts from Italy and the United States.

President Shi Bingyin expressed that our hospital is willing to unreservedly share the valuable experience in the treatment of severe patients and epidemic prevention and control information accumulated by National Medical Team sent to Wuhan with our counterparts from Australia China General Practice Alliance at this critical moment of global fighting against the pandemic, hoping that we can work together to defeat COVID-19 as soon as possible.

Subsequently, Professor Li Baozhen from Office of Infection Control of our hospital shared the standards and infection control procedures of the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19. Chen Wei, Director of Clinical Laboratory highlighted the key problems in the sample testing for COVID-19 patients, and delivered in-depth explanation of how to correctly interpret test results. Professor Liu Zhengwen from Department of Infectious Diseases summarized the experience in the drug use against COVID-19. Shi Zhihong, Deputy Director of Department of Respiratory Medicine and also a member of National Expert Team sent to Wuhan, introduced the respiratory rehabilitation treatment for patients diagnosed with COVID-19. In addition, medical experts from our hospital sent to Wuhan also shared their practical experience in the fight against COVID-19 on the frontline.

In response to the concerns of the members of Australia China General Practice Alliance, Assistant-to-President Han Jianfeng, Professor Shi Qindong, Professor Shi Zhihong, Professor Teng Yan, Professor Fan Lin, and Ren Hui, Deputy Director of International Exchange Office shared their respective opinions and experience, and held warm discussions.

Australia China General Practice Alliance is a medical group consisting of outstanding Chinese medical specialists, which provides direct services to the Australian society and is also committed to building a bridge of cooperation and exchange for Chinese medicine. This video conference plays a significant role in the prevention and control of COVID-19 for Australia China General Practice Alliance, especially in the diagnosis of asymptomatic patients and the management of severe patients. Meantime, Australia China General Practice Alliance expected to continually strengthen exchange and share experience in the prevention and control of COVID-19, hoping to be united to defeat COVID-19 very soon.
