On April 28, a delegation led by Prof. Shamsiyev Jamshid, Director of the Center of Pediatric Surgery of Samarkand State Medical University, Uzbekistan, visited the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) to discuss cooperation in the field of pediatrics.
In the morning, the two sides held a meeting for exchanges and discussions. Zhang Xufeng, Vice President of the FAH, attended the meeting, along with heads of relevant disciplines and key representatives from the Department of Pediatrics, Teaching Department, Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, International Exchange and Cooperation Center, Department of Neonatology, Department of Thoracic Surgery, and Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery.
At the meeting, Zhang Xufeng introduced the FAH’s overview, the development of pediatrics and related specialties, as well as the progress of cooperation with Uzbekistan. He expressed the hope that the FAH would strengthen cooperation with Uzbek medical institutions in areas such as medical technologies, talent cultivation, international medical services, and health tourism.
Director Shamsiyev Jamshid said that he looked forward to deepening exchanges and cooperation in the fields such as pediatric anesthesia, pediatric cardiology, pediatric urology, pediatric thoracic surgery, pediatric neurosurgery, and plastic surgery. He then gave a systematic introduction to the disciplinary structure, diagnosis and treatment capabilities, educational and scientific research achievements, and progress in international exchanges at the Center of Pediatric Surgery.
The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation. Afterwards, representatives from various disciplines held in-depth exchanges and discussions with the Uzbek delegation on specialized technologies in their respective fields.
In the afternoon, the Uzbek delegation visited the Department of Pediatrics, including pediatric internal medicine and pediatric surgery, as well as the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Department of Anesthesiology, and Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery for on-site exchanges. They gained a systematic understanding of pediatric patient management processes and the FAH’s distinctive strengths in pediatric technologies related to congenital heart disease, cleft lip and palate, and other conditions. The Uzbek side highly commended the FAH’s breakthrough technologies and high-level diagnosis and treatment service capabilities in pediatric-related disciplines.
On the following day, the Uzbek delegation also visited the Department of Health Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Department of Pediatrics at the FAH, where they experienced the FAH’s health checkup services and specialty consultation processes at close range. They spoke highly of the FAH’s diagnosis and treatment service capabilities and medical standards.
