From February 6 to 7, the Annual Summary Meeting of the Western Headache & Vertigo Salon and the 118th High-End Headache & Vertigo Salon was successfully held at the International Land Port Division of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU). Co-hosted by the Western Headache & Vertigo Salon Working Group and organized by the Department of Neurology at the FAH of XJTU, the event brought together leading experts and core clinical staff from renowned hospitals across Shaanxi, Henan, Gansu, Shanxi, and other regions. Through academic discussions, case analyses, and hands-on demonstrations, participants explored cutting-edge advances and clinical practice in the headache and vertigo field, advancing coordinated development of regional diagnostic and treatment technologies.

On the afternoon of February 6, the event officially opened with remarks by Professor Luo Guogang of the FAH of XJTU. He reviewed the Salon’s achievements in 2025 and underscored the clinical challenges in diagnostic and treatment technologies. Dr. Qi Yi then presented the development plan for the FAH’s Headache Center, proposing the joint establishment of a standardized Western China headache center system. The visiting experts then toured the headache specialty outpatient clinic, inpatient wards, and other areas to learn about the application of specialized examination equipment and distinctive nursing services. In-depth discussions were held on topics such as hierarchical diagnosis and treatment, as well as multidisciplinary collaboration, with the FAH’s development experience receiving high recognition. During the case-based and hands-on sessions, clinicians and nurses shared real-world cases and provided live demonstrations of techniques such as botulinum toxin injections and nerve block therapy, achieving a deep integration of theory and practice.

On the morning of February 7, the conference officially opened. Professor Luo Guogang reviewed the Salon’s nine-year development and introduced its monthly regular operation, alignment with international exchanges, and other key achievements, such as the release of China’s first expert consensus on migraine quality control. Experts such as Han Junliang and Sun Xingang delivered thematic presentations, analyzing key points in clinical diagnosis and treatment as well as disease associations. During the case discussion session, physicians from multiple regions shared challenging cases such as prion disease and migraine. Experts at the meeting conducted discussions from multidisciplinary perspectives, creating a strong academic atmosphere on site.

The successful hosting of this Salon not only provided a comprehensive summary of the annual work of the Western Headache & Vertigo Salon but also established a high-quality platform for regional academic exchange, facilitating the sharing of diagnostic experiences and cutting-edge technologies. The Department of Neurology at the FAH of XJTU will continue to promote the normalization and institutionalization of such academic events, contributing to the advancement of neurology disease prevention and treatment in the Western region and safeguarding public health.
