Professor Ni Heyu from the University of Toronto visits our hospital for academic exchange

On November 5, Professor Ni Heyu from the University of Toronto in Canada visited the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and delivered a wonderful academic lecture. Shi Bingyin, President of our hospital, She Junjun, Assistant to the President, Dong Yalin, Head of Ministry of Science and Technology of our hospital, Ren Hui, Deputy Director of International Exchange Office, He Pengcheng, Director of Department of Hematology, Li Enxiao, Director of Oncology Department, medical staff, scientific researchers and graduate students from 16 clinical departments attended the lecture. The lecture was presided over by She Junjun.

Professor Ni Heyu gave a lecture entitled Platelets and human diseases: new discoveries and opportunities. Starting from describing the definition of platelets, he illustrated the function of platelets, explained the role of platelets in inflammation, immunity and tumor, and analyzed the relationship between platelets and fetuses and newborns. Besides, he also vividly showcased the changes of thrombosis at different time points through short videos. Professor Ni Heyu also shared current progresses on platelet-related research in his laboratory. Subsequently, both teachers and students in our hospital delivered heated discussion with Professor Ni Heyu on relevant issues.

After the academic lecture, Professor Ni Heyu visited the wards of Department of Cardiovascular Diseases and the Innovation Port. Bilateral sides agreed to conduct in-depth international cooperation and exchanges to jointly resolve major health science problems.
