On November 10, 2019, Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University released the ‘2018 China’s Hospital Ranking List’ and ‘2018 China’s Hospital Specialty Reputation Ranking List’ in Shanghai. The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) moved up three notches from 51st to 48th this year on the ‘2018 China’s Hospital Ranking List’.
A total of 100 outstanding hospitals were nominated on the ‘2018 China’s Hospital Ranking List’, and 40 specialties were included on the ‘2018 China’s Hospital Specialty Reputation Ranking List’. Specialty of Urology, Endocrinology, Cardiovascular Diseases, Psychiatry, Infectious Diseases, Rheumatism and General Surgery of our hospital were nominated on the ‘2018 China’s Hospital Specialty Reputation Ranking List’. Our hospital ranked 1stregarding scientific research in the northwest region. Among the 40 included specialties, 26 specialties from our hospital squeezed into the top 5 in the northwest region.
Since 2010, Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University has launched the annual "China’s Hospital Specialist Reputation Ranking List" and "China’s Hospital Ranking List" for 10 consecutive years. All the evaluation experts are members of Chinese Medical Association, standing committee members of Chinese Medical Doctor Association and directors of the provincial branches of Chinese Medical Association from 40 clinical specialties. This year, the number of experts rose from 4,626 to 4,878, and the quantity of valid feedbacks from experts reached a record high, increasing to 3,878 from 2,964 last year with a valid feedback rate of 66.78%. Experts are obliged to select the top 10 Chinese hospitals in each specialty from the perspectives of discipline construction, clinical technology and medical quality, and scientific research level. ‘The China’s Hospital Ranking List’ is released considering the scientific research input and output of each hospital. Considering the significance of guiding patients to seek medical treatment in a certain region, the hospital and hospital specialty ranking lists in 7 regions have been supplemented since 2015.
Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University refers to the evaluation criteria of ‘Best Hospitals in the U.S.’ to rank different specialties of a certain hospital, which takes the clinical discipline level and specialty reputation as the core and also considers the scientific research output of the year. The evaluation results have been widely recognized in the field of medicine. The ranking lists set a benchmark for hospital discipline construction, highlight the reputation of hospital specialties at home and abroad and provide scientific guidelines for patients to seek medical treatment.
In recent years, our hospital has emphasized the construction of the ‘first-class university and discipline’, aiming to establish a national medical center and regional medical treatment center by innovating the management mechanism, promoting the construction of discipline connotation and comprehensively facilitating the establishment of first-class clinical medicine specialty. Therefore, our hospital has made great stride with regard to discipline construction. The ranking list released by Fudan University is a comprehensive reflection of the discipline construction, academic influence, clinical capability and specialty reputation of a certain hospital. The evaluation results can be interpreted as recognition and approval of the achievements in medicine, teaching, research and social services of our hospital in the previous year. Our hospital firmly adheres to the strategy of regarding discipline construction as the characteristics and clinical capability as the fundament, aiming to accelerate the overall development of discipline construction. Besides, the ranking list also plays a positive role in promoting the comprehensive strength and discipline reputation of our hospital.
