On the afternoon of November 27, 2025, at the invitation of the International Exchange and Cooperation Center of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), Ms. Azhar Giniyat, former Minister of Health of Kazakhstan and President of the National Children’s Rehabilitation Center, Ms. Meruyert Aglanbekova, Director of the Department of Clinical Rehabilitation at the National Children’s Rehabilitation Center, and the former Deputy Minister of the Department of Public Health of Turkistan Region and Director of the region’s “Aqburaq” Children’s Rehabilitation Center, together with their delegation, visited the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Daxingshan Temple Division of the FAH for exchanges, with the aim of strengthening cooperation and experience sharing between China and Kazakhstan in the field of rehabilitation medicine.

Accompanied by the department’s chief therapist Quan Lu, chief resident physician Zhao Weiying and therapist Kang Zhenjing, the expert delegation successively visited the physical therapy area, occupational therapy area, speech therapy room and rehabilitation assessment center, gaining an in-depth understanding of the diagnostic and therapeutic workflows and distinctive techniques of subspecialties such as neurorehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
Professor Qiao Jin, Director of the Daxingshan Temple Division and Director of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, presented the department’s developmental history and achievements in discipline building, with a particular focus on innovative practices such as the application of intelligent rehabilitation equipment and integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine rehabilitation, as well as individualized rehabilitation programs for conditions such as post-stroke sequelae and spinal cord injury. The Kazakhstani expert delegation highly commended the department’s advanced concepts, well-established facilities and refined management model, and engaged in lively discussions with the medical and nursing staff on the technical details of rehabilitation treatment.

During the subsequent discussion session, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine team led by Professor Qiao Jin and the Kazakhstani experts engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics such as “cooperation opportunities in rehabilitation medicine under the Belt and Road Initiative”, “joint cultivation of rehabilitation talents”, and “building cross-border rehabilitation medical service systems”. Ms. Azhar Giniyat introduced the current status, challenges and planning of the development of rehabilitation medicine in Kazakhstan, and expressed a strong desire to establish a long-term cooperation mechanism.
Both sides unanimously agreed to take this visit as an opportunity to establish regular cooperation in academic exchanges, scientific research collaboration and personnel visits, so as to jointly promote the advancement of rehabilitation medicine in both countries.
