On May 23, 2025, an international consultation gathering top cardiac surgery experts from around the world was successfully held at the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU). The consultation focused on a patient with complex coronary artery disease scheduled to undergo a minimally invasive coronary artery bypass grafting (MICS CABG) procedure. Through multidisciplinary collaboration and international knowledge sharing, the aim was to develop the most optimal treatment plan tailored to the patient's condition.

The consultation was led by Professor Yan Yang, Director of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at the FAH of XJTU. Specially invited participants included Professor Keita Kikuchi, a leading figure in minimally invasive cardiac surgery in Japan and visiting professor of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at the hospital; Professor Marco Solinas, Director of Cardiac Surgery at the Fondazione Toscana Gabriele Monasterio in Italy; Professor Srikant from The Mission Hospital in India; Professor Heemoon Lee from Bucheon Sejong Hospital in South Korea; and Professor Seohyun Lee from Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital in South Korea. The cardiovascular surgery team from the FAH of XJTU also participated in the discussion.

The experts conducted an in-depth analysis of the patient's condition. Professor Yan Yang, a nationally recognized authority on minimally invasive cardiac surgery, joined forces with Professor Marco Solinas, an expert in European minimally invasive procedures, and Professor Keita Kikuchi, a Japanese pioneer in MICS CABG. Together, they offered groundbreaking technical insights for the case. Following the consultation, the three experts delivered keynote presentations on the latest advancements in minimally invasive cardiac surgery across Europe and Asia.

This consultation served not only as a platform for clinical and technical exchanges but also marked a deepening collaboration between Chinese cardiac surgery and leading international institutions. Professor Yan Yang, Director of Cardiovascular Surgery at the FAH of XJTU, remarked that "by integrating expertise from multiple countries, we have further refined the minimally invasive treatment pathway for complex coronary artery disease. Moving forward, we will continue to promote such international academic collaborations to benefit more patients."
