From November 8 to 9, 2024 (local time), ISMICS 2024 hosted by Japanese Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (J-MICS) was held in Osaka, Japan. Professor Li Yongxin from Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) was invited to attend and chair the meeting. He also delivered an oral presentation on the core issues of minimally invasive cardiac surgery technology on this international platform.
On the afternoon of November 8 (local time), Professor Li Yongxin shared a thematic presentation entitled "Mini-Bentall Procedure: How to do it! Small and Safe? ”. From the history of Bentall procedure, he explicitly illustrated the safety and feasibility of minimally invasive Bentall procedure, showcasing the development of Bentall procedure in FAH and fully demonstrating FAH’s professional strength and outstanding achievements in this field.
From 2019 to 2023, Professor Li Yongxin's team successfully completed 150 cases of minimally invasive Bentall procedure through the right intercostal incision. Until October 2024, the team had completed nearly 300 cases of aortic root surgery through the intercostal incision, fully demonstrating the feasibility and safety of minimally invasive Bentall procedure in clinical settings.
To highlight surgical effect more vividly and intuitively, Professor Li Yongxin carefully planned and demonstrated two surgical cases. Through in-depth analysis of surgical process and demonstration of key steps, he not only confirmed the feasibility and safety of minimally invasive intercostal incision for aortic root surgery and intraoperative simultaneous treatment of other heart diseases, but also employed this innovative surgical strategy to provide novel ideas for future development of minimally invasive surgery.
