On April 12, the research team jointly led by Associate Professor Li Guoliang from Department of Cardiovascular Medicine and Professor Yan Yang from Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University published a case report entitled "Misdiagnosis of constrictive pericarditis presenting with haemorrhagic pericardial effusion: a case report” inEuropean Heart Journal-Case Reports (SCI impact factor=23.425), an affiliated journal ofEuropean Heart Journal.

In this case report, a 58-year-old male patient presented with atypical symptoms, such as the lower extremity fatigue, intermittent chest tightness and shortness of breath. He was successively misdiagnosed as nervous system diseases and ischemic heart diseases. Professor Yan Yang and Associate Professor Li Guoliang carefully examined his coronary CTA and echocardiography and confirmed the diagnosis of constrictive pericarditis. Professor Yan Yang successfully performed pericardiectomy to the patient immediately after the diagnosis. During 1-year follow-up, relevant symptoms were gradually healed without significant discomfort.

Professor Li Guoliang is the first author of the article, Professor Yan Yang is the corresponding author, and the corresponding affiliation is the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University.
